Living Advent Christmas – Day 2 & 3

Day 2 – Christmas Parade

On Thursday night, our town hosted a Christmas Parade.  We thought we were arriving early enough to park and get a good seat for the parade.  We were WRONG!  We ran into road closures that we didn’t expect, so we had to go the LONG way around.  We made it to the parade just minutes before it started.  Thankfully our friends had saved us a front-row seat…so the parade was a success (when earlier in the night…I thought we’d have to turn around for home).

The kids enjoyed the first hour…after that we got tired and fussy.  The floats and bands were great!  Most of them from local schools and clubs, so it felt like a hometown parade.

Day 3 – Story time with Santa & Trains at Northpark

Today we went to see Santa’s story time.  Santa told us a story about a dragon that lives at the North pole and another one about the elves.  He also asked for chocolate chip cookies, a snack for his reindeer and to make sure that mom and dad put out the fire on Christmas Eve.  We didn’t see Santa in person…we are still a little afraid of him (and still a little tired after last night’s parade.)

After story time, we went to see the miniature train display at the Northpark mall.  Before kids, I would volunteer to help with this exhibit and think how fun it would be to one day bring my kids.  It is the primary fundraiser for the local Ronald McDonald House, so I feel good supporting the cause.  They have hundreds of miniature trains that travel through elaborate displays.  This year my kids could see over the rail while standing…so it was much easier on me.  Beau loved the State Fair of Texas section of the display.

I know I’ve been bad at blogging…but I’m starting to realize that I’ll forget all of these precious moments…if I don’t write them down.  So…hopefully you’ll see a few more blogs from me more often (and maybe an updated blog header soon too).

P.S.  For any Window users…I found a free tool for making blog posts called Windows Live Writer.  It is really easy to write a post with multiple pictures.  Just thought I’d share incase you are looking for an easy way to post blogs too.
